Already started with another school?
If you’ve already started learning elsewhere but feel you’re not making progress, or your instructor is unreliable, we’re here to help. Many pupils switch to LIFE School of Motoring after poor experiences with larger national schools or inconsistent tuition.
You won’t be going backwards. We’ll assess your current level, find out what you’ve already covered, and pick up where you left off, bringing fresh energy and direction to your learning.

Our cars are modern, dual-controlled and clean, giving you a safe space to learn and progress at your own speed. Every lesson is designed to make the most of your time, so you gain the skills to drive confidently and independently.
Nervous or anxious about driving?
You’re not alone. Many pupils feel this way, especially at the start. Our instructors recognise nerves and adapt to them, using positive encouragement and gradual progression to build your confidence from the very first session.

Lessons that fit around you
We teach seven days a week, 8am to 9pm. Our recommended two hour lesson gives you time to warm up, practise properly and finish on a high, and block bookings save you money. We also offer Pass Plus, motorway lessons, refresher lessons and intensive courses.
Under 17? You can start now on private land at our young driver centre in Cheddar.
Driving lesson questions
How old do I need to be to take driving lessons?
You can take road lessons from 17 with a provisional licence. Younger learners of any age can drive with us on private land at our Cheddar centre, where no licence is needed.
Can I switch to LIFE from another driving school?
Yes. We’ll assess your current level, find out what you’ve covered, and carry on from there, so you won’t be going backwards.
Are your cars dual-controlled?
Yes. All lessons are in modern, clean, dual-controlled cars, so your instructor can step in whenever needed.
I’m a nervous driver. Can you help?
Definitely. Our instructors are calm and patient, and lessons build up gradually at your pace. We’ve helped hundreds of nervous learners pass.
